My theory on the pedals stems from the fact that when I got the bike the original Ape hangerīars had some kind of damaged or returned for resale sticker on them and the original pedals got damages in shipping, some one bought the bike, returned the bikeĪnd someone else bought it as is or at least something along those lines.* Higher Performance MOPED CARB featuring a BRASS FUELĬarburator is pre-jetted & adjusted, Throttle cable t rimmed to proper length for your bike. I also hear your theories about the OCC bikes did not come with tanks and so on but I can tell you coming from 40 years of modifyingĪnd changing bikes including riding the original Chicago stingray's when I was a kid, this bike came from a factory (not sure where) just like it sets minus the pedals in the picture that was taken outside. The serial No# on the bottom bracket is "SNHUA04J24576" some one also asked me if the chain is chrome and it is. I took the ones off the fender and tank because they were There was also one on the rear fender behind the reflector and there are two on the dropouts of the frame, one on each side there was one on the tank under the "Gas Cap" Next question yes there are several OCC stickers on this bike. as far as the front wheel goes I don't again see this family having the ability but who knowsįirst of all I would like to say thanks for all the research you guys are doing I could not dig up any history on this bike. The double side tape that fastens the tank to the frame. the pedals were replaced sometime by some one but the tank was put on for what ever reason at the factory because the stock frame stickers are still in tact under The pic I just added is how it was when I got it the lady I got it from bought it from a local retailer for her son's birthday is what she told me and this family is not mechanically inclined so I know for a fact that the chain ring is stock because it matches the factory seat. It's nice to talk to people who have a common interest. That is how it looked when I got it and the chain ring matches the seat with the cross on it.Īlso thanks for welcoming me to the site. You can't see it in the pics but the "gas cap" has an "S" in the middle of it and there was an "OCC" sticker right below it. The lady I bought it from had a son who rode it down the street in a subdivision once and decided it was too much work to mess with and so it sat in a garage for 6 or 7 years. It is all original except for the bars, seat, seat post and pedals which I changed out for comfort. If you want a new chainguard, I have one that I'd like to sell. I see that your chainguard has been removed, and its support brackets have been left in place. Is that a chrome chain?Īll in all, that's one cool bike you have there! The chainring is not original, nor the pedals, but they're cool. The stock wheel has 48 spokes, arranged radially (they don't cross). Your front wheel appears to have been replaced or re-laced. Your seat is without a doubt an improvement in comfort over the stock seat, too. The stock handlebars force you to lean uncomfortably forward and make the bike awkward to ride. I'm sure they're more comfortable than the stock bars, and improve handling as well. The handlebars on this bike are not apehangers. If it were my bike, I'd remove it without hesitation. It's not a rarity it's somebody's modification. Schwinn OCC Choppers DO NOT come with any such appendage. That tank certainly looks like it came off a Jesse James bike. Welcome to this forum and thanks for the pictures.
